Why is it called the Westobou Festival? Between 1660 and 1680, the Westo Indians lived in an area between Augusta, GA, and North Augusta, SC, along the banks of the Westobou River. Today, that river is known as the Savannah River. The river was a valuable resource to the Westo Indians and remains an integral part of the Augusta Region, serving as the catalyst to stimulate an economic and cultural impact on the entire area. It is fitting that the Trustees of the Academy of Richmond County selected the name Westobou Festival in promoting their vision to advance excellence in the arts and celebrate Augusta's wealth of artistic talent.

I still haven't decided exactly who and what I am going to see ...but you can bet you'll see me there!
